Why Not Just Use The Premade Chocolate Dip?

I have purchased that little cardboard tub of chocolate melting chips, and it tastes good, but there is a hint of chemical taste, if you know what am talking about. Maybe it’s just me, but I always find it just a bit off. Don’t get me wrong, if someone makes me chocolate covered strawberries with it, I am still going to shovel them down my throat! LOL But, the price on that has also risen so high, it costs more than the fresh strawberries and the little container has gotten so much smaller!

Making chocolate covered strawberries at home is not only easy, but the process goes fairly quickly too. Here are the main steps it takes to make chocolate covered strawberries at home.

  • Add 8 oz (1 cup) of Dark Chocolate (chopped up) and 1/4 cup Solid Refined coconut oil to a microwave safe bowl.
  • Melt in microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. Repeat until most of the chocolate is liquid, stirring in between each 30 second interval.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Why Use Refined Coconut Oil?

Refined coconut oil will not have a coconut taste to it. So, you want to use a refined Coconut Oil that is solid at room temperature. If you use an unrefined coconut oil it will have a coconut flavor to it, it will still work, but some people may not prefer the coconut flavor. The label will say if it is refined, or unrefined, they both come in a solid state.
