Equipment

  • 2 Donut Pans (6 Donut each) This Recipe make 12 donuts with a Donut Pan that makes 2.8 inch Diameter Donuts

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Fresh Milled Flour (120g) Milled 2/3 cup Soft White Wheat
  • 1/3 cup Sugar 67g
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk 120g (OR 1/2 cup milk & 1/2 tsp white Vinegar)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 TBSP Extra Light Olive Oil
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar as needed to coat the donuts

Instructions

  • Mill the flour
  • Preheat oven to 400*F
  • Spray Donut Pan with oil (Mine makes six 2.8inch Diameter donuts, and I have 2 of them)
  • Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  • Add buttermilk, eggs, and oil to another bowl & whisk to break up the eggs. (If you don't have buttermilk, you can use 1/2c milk & 1/2tsp white vinegar
  • Then, pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix just until no dry ingredients are showing. Don't overmix or the donuts will end up with a rubbery texture & tough.
  • You can pipe the donut batter into the donut pan until each well is about 1/2 full. You can do this without a piping bag, it just makes it a little easier, and less messy!
  • Bake donuts for 7-9 minutes, until the donuts are golden on top, and don't look shiny anymore.
  • Let the donuts cool for 5 minutes, then remove and place them on a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Next, after they have cooled, dust them with your desired amount of powdered sugar. If the powdered sugar doesn't stick, you can lightly spray the donuts with a little oil. Then dust with powdered sugar.
